Fleury-sur-Orne: from Neolithic times to the Second World War.

The site of Fleury-sur-Orne revealed an important necropolis of the Middle Neolithic (c. 4500 BCE) containing about twenty grave monuments, including a still intact barrow mound containing the burial of remarkable deceased individuals.
Evidence of a disruption of sorts with previous traditions, these monumental burials suggest a new evolution towards hierarchy in these ancient societies.
This is the second necropolis of the type excavated in Normandy, the others being mainly located in the Paris Basin and in the départment of the Yonne.
